Starting November 11, 2024, Vietnam’s streamlined e-visa system offers travelers an easier entry process through an improved online portal.

Vietnam’s tourism sector is taking a step forward with the introduction of a new electronic visa (e-visa) application website, aimed at simplifying the entry process for international travelers. Beginning Monday, November 11, 2024, travelers can access the new e-visa portal at thithucdientu.gov.vn, which will operate alongside the current portal, evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn. This development reflects Vietnam’s commitment to streamlining its visa services to accommodate the growing influx of visitors.

Enhanced E-Visa Portal for Smoother Applications

The new portal promises an upgraded interface with clear instructions and a comprehensive FAQ section in both English and Vietnamese. According to Pham Dang Khoa, Director of the Immigration Department, these enhancements aim to minimize common errors seen in applications, ensuring a faster and more reliable e-visa process. Travelers will be guided through each step of the application, including how to upload their passport photo and information page, ensuring that details are correctly auto-filled.

Helpful tip: Make sure to use the official government websites to avoid delays, errors and scams caused by unofficial portals.

Entry Points and Growing Tourism Numbers

Vietnam currently allows e-visa holders to enter the country through 42 designated entry points, including major airports like Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, and Da Nang International Airports, as well as key sea and land ports. This accessibility has contributed to an increase in visitors, with over 14.1 million tourists arriving in the first 10 months of 2024, a 41.3 percent increase from the same period last year. South Korea, China, and the United States lead the list of top markets, with European visitors showing increased interest in recent months.

Final Thoughts for Travelers

As Vietnam anticipates reaching its target of 18 million international tourists by the end of 2024, this new e-visa portal aims to ensure a smooth entry experience for travelers. For a seamless application process, applicants are encouraged to complete all fields accurately and use the official websites only.

For an optimized travel experience, visitors should check Vietnam’s official tourism and immigration sites here before planning their journey.
