This September, Hanoi along with Danang and Ho Chi Minh City, is set to host the vibrant German Oktoberfest, offering locals and tourists alike a slice of German culture through its famed beer, cuisine, and lively festivities.

The German Business Association’s Chairman, Alexander Ziehe, highlighted the significance of this year’s festival as a prelude to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany in 2025. He emphasized that the festival not only celebrates German culture but also strengthens the economic and trade relations between the two countries.

A Festival of Culture and Culinary Delights

Scheduled for September 26-28 in Hanoi, October 4 in Danang, and October 10-12 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Oktoberfest will feature traditional German fare like bratwurst and sauerkraut, served alongside renowned beers such as Erdinger. Attendees will enjoy the authentic atmosphere of a Munich beer tent, complete with staff dressed in traditional Bavarian costumes.

Music and Merriment

The festival atmosphere is elevated by performances from O’zapft, a band known for their energetic renditions of Oktoberfest classics and popular hits. Combining traditional German music with modern flair, they are set to captivate the audience with instruments ranging from accordions to electric guitars.

A Stalwart of German Tradition in Vietnam

Hosted by JW Marriott Hanoi Hotel, this year’s Oktoberfest is not only a celebration of German culture but also a testament to the festival’s deep-rooted popularity in Vietnam, having attracted over 10,500 visitors last year and serving 20,000 liters of beer. Co-organized by the German Business Association and supported by the German Embassy in Hanoi, the event promises to be a significant cultural and social highlight this fall.
