Trà Sư Cajuput Forest exemplifies how eco-tourism can effectively contribute to conservation efforts while offering tourists a unique and educational experience. As more travelers seek destinations that offer sustainable and enriching experiences, Trà Sư stands ready to welcome them with open arms and a commitment to preserving its natural treasures for generations to come.

Nestled in An Giang Province’s Tịnh Biên Town, the Trà Sư Cajuput Forest spans 845 hectares and stands as a vital ecological sanctuary. Known for its diverse array of flora and fauna, the forest has become a pivotal site for conservation efforts and sustainable tourism practices, under the guidance of its director, Lê Hoàng Ân.

A Rich Biodiversity

Trà Sư is home to a remarkable biodiversity, including 70 species of water birds—among them, the rare and endangered Indian stork and snake-necked stork. The forest also supports 11 species of mammals, 20 species of reptiles, five species of frogs, and 23 species of fish, along with 140 plant species. This rich biodiversity not only makes Trà Sư a crucial habitat for wildlife but also a captivating destination for eco-tourists.

Conservation at Its Core

The Trà Sư Cajuput Forest Tourism Site places a strong emphasis on preserving its natural beauty and biodiversity. Guided by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development along with the Forest Protection Department, the site has implemented several conservation activities. These include setting up patrol teams to prevent poaching and illegal activities, planting trees, regulating water levels, and initiating fish releases to support the aquatic ecosystem.

Balancing Business with Environmental Stewardship

As an eco-tourism site, Trà Sư operates with the dual goals of business development and environmental preservation. Investments in the site are carefully planned to ensure they are eco-friendly and sustainable, maintaining the natural integrity of the forest while providing modern amenities to visitors. This approach not only protects the environment but also enhances the visitor experience, attracting tourists from both Vietnam and abroad.

Eco-Tourism as an Educational Tool

The eco-tourism activities at Trà Sư are designed to educate and inspire. Visitors, especially young students, are introduced to the local wildlife and the challenges it faces. Through guided tours and educational programs, tourists gain a deeper appreciation of the ecosystem and learn about the importance of conservation efforts. These experiences often ignite a lifelong passion for nature and a commitment to environmental stewardship.

Impact and Future Directions

Trà Sư’s approach to eco-tourism serves as a model for sustainable tourism development. By integrating conservation with tourism, the site not only safeguards its natural resources but also provides meaningful experiences that highlight the importance of biodiversity protection. Moving forward, Trà Sư Cajuput Forest aims to continue its work in preserving the region’s ecological heritage while fostering a tourism industry that respects and enhances the natural environment.
