Siem Reap is set to host the “Smile of Cambodia” event next week, a vibrant celebration aimed at promoting traditional Khmer culture, tourism, and gastronomy. Organized by the Khmer Artists Association and the provincial administration, this event is a key part of the “Visit Siem Reap 2024” campaign.

Set against the iconic backdrop of Angkor Wat, the festivities will take place at the former headquarters of the Heritage Protection Police Department. The event promises an immersive experience with entertainment, mini exhibitions showcasing Khmer cuisine, and displays of cultural artistry designed to captivate both locals and tourists alike.

From August 12-14, the focus will be on content production, with influencers and social media creators sharing their experiences online, spotlighting everything from traditional attire to the local culinary scene. The climax of the event on August 15 will feature art performances, exhibitions, and a Khmer food show, offering visitors a taste of the unique flavors of Cambodia.

Seth Kimsoeun, an adviser to the Khmer Artists Association, emphasized the importance of this event in promoting Khmer culture and heritage through modern platforms. Content creators are encouraged to collaborate closely with cultural experts to ensure their social media posts reflect the depth and respect due to Khmer traditions.

The “Smile of Cambodia” event not only aims to draw tourists but also to deepen the connection between Cambodia’s rich cultural legacy and its contemporary artistic expressions. This blend of history and modernity is sure to enrich visitors’ understanding and appreciation of Khmer culture, making Siem Reap a must-visit destination in 2024.
