Starting September 1st, travelers can streamline their entry into Cambodia by pre-paying visa fees online, enhancing the travel experience.
In a move to simplify travel and enhance tourism, Cambodia is set to introduce an online payment system for visa-on-arrival fees starting September 1st, 2024. This announcement comes from Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, as part of ongoing efforts to make visiting the country more convenient and attractive.
Travelers flying into Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville international airports will have the option to pay their visa fees online via the new Cambodia e-Arrival portal. This portal not only allows for fee payment but also enables travelers to complete their e-Arrival Card before departure, thus avoiding queues at the airport.
This initiative is part of a broader push to integrate digital solutions into Cambodia’s tourism infrastructure. The online system is expected to speed up the entry process and provide a seamless arrival experience. Additionally, the electronic payment method may be extended to Cambodian embassies and consulates worldwide, further facilitating the visa application process.
While the full mandatory implementation of the electronic arrival card (e-Arrival Card) has been postponed to January 1, 2025, travelers currently have the choice to use either the online form or the traditional paper forms during the extended trial phase until the end of 2024.
This development is anticipated to boost tourist arrivals by reducing administrative hurdles and making it easier for visitors to enter Cambodia. The online service, which consolidates immigration, visa, customs, and health procedures into a single platform, underscores Cambodia’s commitment to modernizing its entry processes and enhancing the overall travel experience.
